China's TechFaith to Launch Value-line 3G WCDMA Mobile Phones

China-based TechFaith Wireless announced on July 10, 2007 that the company will augment its product portfolio with low- and ultra low-cost 3G WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) phones. The initial batch of TechFaith's value-line offerings will be quad-band (UMTS2100, GPRS10, GSM900, and DCS1800) WCDMA phones based on Qualcomm's MSM6245 platform. Priced at US$79 and US$69, TechFaith's new 3G phones target the emerging markets of India, Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, Russia, and Latin America.
